Olga Kurylenco & Costume for Neil Marshall's Centurion

I have finally completed the costume for the forthcoming Neil Marshall Film Centurion which has now started filming. The kit which was designed by Costumier Keith Maddon (Eden Lake amongst other films) included principal costume for Etain played by Olga Kurylenco. Her kit included 6 tunics and 4 pairs of chaps (for Olga and her stunt double). I also made her belts and bags.

Other items included a deer skin tunic for the pict king -'Gorlacon', his belts and a further 10 sets of belts, greaves and bracers for Etain's warrior clan.

It was an eye opener to work with Keith Maddon who had exciting ideas regarding the look of the film as well as an eye for detail (something I can relate to!) and it was great to have the opportunity to meet the charming Olga during the fitting process. Overall it was a fantastic experience and although time was short it was great fun. Massive thanks to Lee Cooke - without his help it would have been impossible.

Empire magazine Centurion

Empire Magazine --Centurion
Fassbender, West and Kurylenko sign on
Source: The Hollywood Reporter

OK, so Doomsday was a slight, if enjoyable, misstep, but otherwise, we’re got a soft spot for Neil Marshall, one of the few British directors out there with skill to match his ambition. Which is why we’re glad to see that he’s put a nice little cast together for his next film, the Roman epic, Centurion.

Michael Fassbender – so hot right now as a result of his turn in Hunger and his forthcoming role in Inglourious Basterds – has signed on, along with Quantum Of Solace’s leading lady, Olga Kurylenko and Dominic West, who shall forever be given a pass for his involvement in The Wire.

Fassbender, who got his abs out to great effect in 300, will play Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of an attack on a Roman fortress by savage Picts (tribes who lived in what would become Scotland) in A.D. 117. Under orders to wipe out the Picts and their leader, Gorlacon, Quintus journeys north with the legendary Ninth Legion and their leader, General Virilus. Cue much bloody mayhem – if we don’t see at least one decapitation, we’ll be sorely disappointed.

Marshall, as is his wont, also wrote Centurion, which will be produced by Christian Colson. It sounds a little more akin to a Roman Doomsday than, say, Dog Soldiers or The Descent, but either way, we’re looking forward to this one.

Centurion Film costume & armour

New year and new opportunities ---Before Christmas I was contacted by Keith Maddon costume designer regarding the production of leatherwork for a Neil Marshal film "centurion", based on the disappearance of the Roman ninth legion. I will be producing armour for the picti characters Including the female lead Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solice), and a dozen principles in her clan. Its a great project for me and who knows what it could lead on to.
